Tori Uhlich, former Wahpeton Post 20 state champion, and Masen Allmaras, former Kindred Vikings standout, are off to sizzling starts for North Dakota State College of Science baseball.
Following a spring trip through Oklahoma and Florida, Uhlich is batting .485 and Allmaras is hot on his heels with a .455 mark. The sophomore duo is tied for the team lead in RBIs (7).
Uhlich has emerged as one of the top baserunners in the country, checking in at No. 2 on the NJCAA DIII national leaderboard with 22 stolen bases. Brady Breedlove (Dallas Brookhaven) and Jhaolvin Ledesma (Middlesex) lead the way with 23 steals.
Breedlove has played 14 more games than Uhlich and Ledesma has eight more appearances.
The Wildcats (4-8) home opener is Sunday, March 30 against Bismarck State. Doubleheader action will air on B 92.7 FM and KBMW News Live YouTube at 1 and 3:30 p.m.
