
The No. 2-ranked NDSCS softball team went 3-0-1 during its first action of the season Feb. 8-9 inside the Minot Dome.
The Wildcats defeated Williston State College, 11-1, and Dawson Community College, 18-1. They battled to a 5-5 tie against Bismarck State College and defeated Lake Region State College by a score of 8-2.
Rayelle Cooley led the Wildcat lineup with four hits and seven RBIs. Cooley collected a pair of triples and one double. Heeley Taylor, Mia Deniz and Kendyl Moss each tallied a pair of doubles. Blythe Proulx hit the only homer on the weekend.
Caitlyn Dannenfelzer and Katie Edmonds combined to score nine runs.
Ella Stewart made four appearances in the circle and surrendered just three hits. Stewart held opponents to one run across seven innings of work while racking up 13 strikeouts.
Taylor also tossed seven innings with a perfect ERA and one win to show for it.
Emma Johnson picked up a win, allowing one earned run across six innings. Deniz and Grace Folkema contributed one inning apiece and did not allow an earned run.
