
The Wahpeton boys basketball team rolled over Hillsboro/Central Valley on the road Tuesday by a score of 65-42.
The Huskies took an 18-5 lead after one quarter when Brayden Steffens beat the buzzer on a half-court heave. The halftime score favored Wahpeton, 33-21.
Treyton Mauch led the Huskies with 19 points on 3-of-6 shooting from beyond the arc. Brayden Steffens scored 17, Jack Gilbertson 12 and Jackson DeVries 10.
Gilbertson led the team with eight rebounds, while Landon Ralph and Bjorn Kubela pulled down seven each. Kubela was a centerpiece of the Huskies defense with a game-high four steals.
Wahpeton shot under 40 percent in the contest, but forced 18 turnovers and tallied 13 steals to keep the Burros at bay.
Hillsboro/Central Valley was led by 14 points from Alexander Dufner and 12 from Keithan Muller. Wahpeton is now 2-1 and the Burros are 0-4.
