Yaggie scores 21, Koltes and Blaufuss anchor the post in Cowgirls win

cowgirls-2

The Breckenridge Cowgirls basketball team played a feisty defensive game Tuesday, topping Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton, 64-51, in front of a home crowd at Breckenridge High School. The Cowgirls were led by 21 points from junior guard/forward Parker Yaggie.
Sophomore center Mariah Koltes eanred Essentia Health Player of the Game for her part in slowing down dangerous DGF center Aria Garrett, who scored 11 of her 17 points at the foul line. Garrett was limited to six points in the opening half, as Koltes used her 6-foot-1 frame to cause several jump balls and deflect entry passes into the post.
Senior center Erin Blaufuss worked in tandem with Koltes to provide a solid one-two punch on the interior, while Piper Jaehning, Ava Jaehning, Sydni Roberts and Johnica Bernotas all played a role in the Cowgirls’ hounding full-court pressure.
Breckenridge improved to 2-1 overall and 2-0 in the Heart O’ Lakes Conference.
