
The Breckenridge-Wahpeton Blades hockey team opened its 2024-25 season with a tie on the road against Becker-Big Lake.
Breckenridge-Wahpeton outshot the Eagles 32-14, including a dominant 16-1 edge in the third period. Kai McDonald was assisted by Isaiah Bruechert and Luke Craig on the Blades’ lone goal.
Becker-Big Lake goalie Thomas Zerwas made 31 saves and Tate Spilde netted the Eagles’ only goal. Cale Gilbertson had a fine night on the other side of the ice, stopping 13 of 14 shots for the Blades.
The Blades host Willmar at 7 p.m. tonight inside the Stern Sports Arena.
