The NDSCS Wildcats celebrate following following Sunday’s 19-point, comeback win vs. Mesabi Range
Things got a bit murkier Monday in the selection process for the NJCAA DIII Football National Championship. The latest rankings were released, featuring defending national champion College of DuPage at No. 1, followed by Louisburg and North Dakota State College of Science (NDSCS) in a second-place tie.
DuPage will host the game as the undisputed top team in the land, but who will receive the bid to challenge them has not been decided.
The NDSCS Wildcats moved up one spot following a 30-29 win over Mesabi Range on Sunday, while Mesabi climbed into the rankings at No. 5. Hudson Valley checked in at No. 4 and Louisburg remained in the No. 2 spot, with the Wildcats keeping them company.
It remains to be seen which team will be selected to oppose DuPage in the national title game, but Louisburg and NDSCS are the two programs waiting in the wings. Louisburg has an 8-2 record including four straight wins. The Wildcats have a 9-1 record, winners of five straight and a perfect record in the Minnesota College Athletic Conference. Both teams have wrapped up their seasons ahead of nationals.
