A very good field of runners challenged the Breckenridge-Wahpeton Storm cross-country teams Thursday afternoon at the John Hermes Invitational races held at the hilly Pebble Lake Golf Course in Fergus Falls. The Section 8AA top boys teams, Perham and Fergus Falls, and the top two girls teams, Perham and Alexandria, took part in the meet.
For Breckenridge-Wahpeton, Lucie Comstock placed seventh overall and Kiera Wiertzema placed 18th to. Troy Berndt finished 23rd for the boys, while Jace Dauer finished 28th.
Comstock commented on her race, “Coming into the race I hoped for a top-eight finish, and I achieved it. It was a tough race, but I did as best as I could and finished strong. I just told myself to stay relaxed the first two miles and then kick the last. I knew it was going to be a challenging race, but I gave it my all and finished strong.”
