A 37-year-old man was taken into custody after barricading himself inside a Wahpeton residence and refusing to comply with law enforcement. 

Zachary Steffens was later taken into custody without incident by the Wahpeton Police Department, assisted by the Southern Valley Special Response Team according to a press release sent by Deputy Chief Tim Appell from Wahpeton PD.

The incident took place at 1011 8th Ave. N. in Wahpeton and police were dispatched on reports of a subject suffering a mental health crisis. 

Criminal charges will be sent for review.
