CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — The No. 1 seed NDSCS softball team lost in the semifinals of the NJCAA DIII World Series on Thursday to the No. 2 seed Patrick & Henry Community College, 4-3, in eight innings.
NDSCS remains alive in the double elimination tournament, scheduled to play a loser-out semifinal game Friday at 6 p.m. against the winner of Rochester and Caldwell — both of which NDSCS defeated earlier in the tourney. The winner of tonight’s game will play for a national title.
TK Landes led NDSCS, the defending national champions, with three hits, two RBIs and a run scored. Riley Tappy, Jayden Breiland and Emma Johnson delivered two hits apiece.
Grace Folkema allowed one earned run through 5 ⅓ innings, striking out six and walking five. Emma Johnson pitched the final 2 ⅓ innings.
Kyndal Hopkins tied the game at 3-3 with a solo homer in the sixth and Makalah Wiggins walked it off for the Patriots with a solo shot of her own in the eighth.
