The No. 1-ranked NDSCS softball team defeated College of DuPage on Tuesday by scores of 7-4 and 12-0 to capture the district championship and clinch its spot in the NJCAA DIII World Series, which begins May 22 in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
NDSCS (51-9) will aim to defend its national championship from a season ago.
The Wildcats powered past DuPage with a barrage of home runs. Avery Martin broke the single-season program record with her 19th homer, while TK Landes and Kendyl Moss went yard twice, and Emma Johnson added a long ball of her own.
Emma Johnson (25-4) and Grace Folkema (26-5) combined for a whopping 29 strikeouts in the doubleheader wins.
