
The Breckenridge-Wahpeton Storm softball team scored five runs in the fifth inning to defeat Rothsay on Friday, 7-3. Mia Dodge settled in after allowing a solo homer in the first inning, pitching a complete-game with eight strikeouts.
Adi Dodge and Jaelie Ernst drew three walks apiece, while Jocelyn Riebe and Ava Jaehning had a pair of singles. Jaehning’s two-rbi grounder through the left side broke the game open in the fifth inning, helping the Storm improve to 7-8 on the season.
The defensive effort was highlighted by a pair of basket catches in foul territory from Storm first baseman Jaelie Ernst on a day where winds pushed 25 miles per hour.
