
The North Dakota State College of Science softball and baseball teams are moving on in their respective playoffs. The Wildcats softball squad won the Region XIII softball championship for a fourth consecutive season, and the Wildcats baseball team beat No. 1-seed Alexandria Tech to finish runner-up in the region and clinch the program’s first-ever district tournament berth.
The Wildcat softball team is ranked No. 1 in the nation with a 49-9 record. NDSCS baseball has set a new high-water mark for wins in a season with its 15-23 record.
The NDSCS baseball team overcame a 1-0 loss to Northland in the opening round, reeling off three straight wins May 9-10 in St. Cloud, Minnesota. They defeated Minnesota North-Itasca, 6-3, before pulling off a pair of 9-5 victories over Northland and Alexandria Tech.
The Wildcats softball team outscored its opponents 28-1 in the region tourney, defeating Minnesota North-Mesabi Range, 17-0, and topping Central Lakes-Brainerd in back-to-back games by scores of 3-0 and 8-1.
