The NDSCS baseball team split a highly-competitive doubleheader at Rochester Community and Technical College on Wednesday, April 24. The Wildcats took game one, 3-2, and lost the second tilt, 5-4.

Zach Taft singled home Mason Allmaras to open the scoring in the top of the first. Rochester scored in the bottom half to make it a 1-1 ballgame.

Oakley Dubord was hit-by-pitch with the bases loaded to score Tori Uhlich, giving NDSCS a 2-1 lead in the fifth. The ‘Cats went up 3-1 in the sixth on a solo homer by Ryan Loewe and held on for the win. 

Brendan Maasjo drew the start and pitched three innings of one-run baseball while striking out three batters. Tate DeKok pitched two shutout innings with three strikeouts to earn the win. Hunter Conn-Beck secured a six-out save, working around one unearned run to slam the door on the Yellowjackets.

Rochester walked it off in game two on a solo jack by leadoff hitter Griffin Olson. The Yellowjackets sent seven different pitchers to the mound, each of them completing one inning, with Owen Vargas getting credit for the win.

NDSCS picked up a 6-0 win Saturday at Williston State. Statistics were unavailable as of Monday morning. The Wildcats are 12-20 with two regular season games remaining.
