The Breckenridge Cowboys baseball team fell to Upsala/Swanville at home Monday by a score of 11-5.

Gabe Armitage and Trey Vogelbacher both batted 2-for-3 with an RBI, while Armitage added two runs scored for the Cowboys. Armitage doubled to account for Breckenridge’s only extra-base hit. Jacob Nicholson, Cooper Roberts and Gavin Hoffert each singled in the loss.

Jaxson Riggs made his season debut on the mound for Breckenridge, pitching 3 ⅓ innings of one-hit baseball. The sophomore allowed five runs, three earned, walking six batters and striking out four.

Breckenridge went to its bullpen, calling on Logan Church, Lawson Oliphant and Riley Kappes to close things out. The trio allowed six runs, only one earned.

Upsala/Swanville had only five hits in the ballgame, but capitalized on three Cowboy errors. Offensively, they were led by Hunter Moore (1/3, 2B, 2 BB, 2 R, 2 RBI), while Jack Primus (5.0 IP, 4 R, 2 ER, 4 BB, 5 Ks) and Zach Johnson (2.0 IP, 2 H, R, ER, BB, 3 Ks) handled the pitching. Primus was also patient at the plate, walking in all four of his plate appearances.

The 1-3 Cowboys are back in action with a Thursday doubleheader at Barnesville. Pregame coverage begins at 3:45 p.m. on B 92.7 FM with first pitch to follow at 4 p.m.
