NDSCS grinds out Saturday road sweep at Dawson

The No. 1-ranked NDSCS softball team secured a pair of key Mon-Dak Conference victories Saturday at Dawson by scores of 3-2 and 10-8. Game one went into extras, as the Wildcats pushed across the go-ahead run in the ninth inning. NDSCS was led by doubles from Riley Tappy, Emma Johnson and Lara “Yaya” Dolezal.
Grace Folkema was credited with the win after tossing four no-hit innings and striking out 11 batters. Johnson went five frames to close the contest, allowing one earned run on six hits, four strikeouts and one walk.
NDSCS found its power stroke in game two, receiving long balls from Caitlyn Dannenfelzer, TK Landes and Dolezal. Landes, Dannenfelzer and Avery Martin had two hits apiece in the razor-thin victory.
Johnson was tagged for 12 hits in four innings, but limited the damage to three earned runs. Folkema pitched three hitless and scoreless innings, striking out six Buccaneer batters to earn the win.
NDSCS played another doubleheader at Dawson on Sunday. Full results will be published when available.
