
The No. 1-ranked NDSCS softball team swept Lake Region State at home Tuesday by scores of 8-1 and 6-0. Sophomore slugger T.K. Landes delivered home runs in each of her first three plate appearances, finishing the matinee game a perfect 3-for-3 at the dish with five RBIs.
Caitlyn Dannenfelzer scored three times at the top of the order to ignite a dangerous Wildcats lineup.
Emma Johnson improved her record to 15-4 in the circle. The freshman surpassed 100 strikeouts for the season, allowing one run in five innings. Grace Folkema closed the contest with five Ks in the final two frames.
Dannenfelzer and Lilly Reed both homered in game two. Johnson and Kendyl Moss doubled, and Landes added a triple. The Royals mustered just two hits, plating their lone run on a Whitney Rozdeba double.
Folkema racked up 10 strikeouts through five innings, while Johnson fanned five of six batters to earn the save.
NDSCS (27-7) will travel to Dawson (18-10) to play a four-game weekend series between marquee Mon-Dak Conference programs.
