
In a shocking turn of events, the Wahpeton girls basketball team watched a 13-point lead evaporate in the fourth quarter of Wednesday’s Division A, Region 1 elimination game vs. Kindred at the Scheels Center in Fargo.
The No. 1 seed Vikings pulled off a 56-46 comeback win by outscoring the No. 3 seed Lady Huskies 29-6 in the final quarter.
Peyton Gette led Kindred with 15 points, followed by Siera Nipstad and Liza Trenbeath with 10 points each. Scout Woods led Wahpeton with 17 points and Halle Miller scored 15. Leah DeVries registered seven steals in the loss.
Wahpeton ends its season with an 11-10 record. Kindred takes a 17-6 record into Saturday’s state qualifier round.
