The Breckenridge Cowboys (2-17) stuck with Hillcrest Lutheran Academy (16-2) all night, but couldn’t pull off the upset against the Comets in a 63-50 road loss Tuesday.

Breckenridge sophomore forward Cooper Roberts had a career scoring night with 19 points and six rebounds on 7-of-14 shooting. Senior forward Beau Beyer was the only other Cowboy in double figures with 10 points.

Breckenridge trailed by 13 at the half and cut the lead to nine in the closing minutes.

Noah Brumfeld led Hillcrest with 22 points. Luke Christensen also had a big performance that included three dunks, closing the night with 13 points, nine rebounds and three blocks. Ethan Swedberg narrowly missed a double-double with eight points and 10 boards.

The Cowboys are on the road for a 7:30 p.m. Friday matchup at Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton.
