The City of Wahpeton will celebrate family and the holidays on December 8 with Family Night at Holiday Lane. Holiday Lane of a free holiday lights experience located in Chahinkapa Park along the Red River in Wahpeton. Lighted trees, fun holiday figures, dancing lights, a sleigh for photos and a Santa House are all a part of the Holiday Lane attraction.
On December 8, families are invited to the park to visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus in the Santa House, have their family (friends, neighbors…anyone!) picture taken on the lighted sleigh, enjoy cookies and cocoa, and kids can enter a coloring contest for prizes.
Wahpeton is the place to boost your holiday spirit. Along with Holiday Lane, Dakota Avenue (Wahpeton’s “main street”) is lined with lighted trees and the place to hear Christmas music playing six-days-a-week while you shop. Heritage Square in the heart of Downtown Wahpeton is home to the city’s Community Christmas tree, as well as the Festival of Trees, which are given to families in need every December. The Leach Public Library and Richland County Courthouse lawns are decorated as well, and many businesses and residents show their spirit with their own displays. Pictures of Wahpeton’s holiday spirit are attached.
Holiday Lane is in its sixth year of bringing light and spirit to the community, and is always free to experience.
