The Breckenridge Cowboys football team fell short of a comeback win against the top team in Section 6A Parkers Prairie, falling to the Panthers 22-15 on Friday.

Breckenridge went into halftime down 14-0 and Bailey Evans got his squad on the board with a two-yard TD.

The Panthers scored early in the fourth quarter but Cowboy running back Paul Armitage answered right back by taking the ensuing kickoff to the 8-yard line. Evans scored on the next play and also ran in the two-point conversion.

Breckenridge got the ball back in the closing minutes of the game but was stopped on fourth down. Parkers Prairie moved the chains twice to close the game out and hold on for the Homecoming victory.

Evans and Armitage each had 68 rushing yards on the day.

Dawson Wienbar was in on the only turnover the Breck defense forced, picking off a pass in the endzone.

The 1-4 Cowboys head home to face the New York Mills Eagles at 7 p.m. Friday.
