
Wahpeton Post 20 continued their dominant weekend at the state tournament by advancing to the state championship game on Sunday with a 7-1 win over host Kindred.
Caden Kappes went the distance for Wahpeton, giving up five hits and only one run. He fanned four batters and also had a 3-3 day at the plate with two runs and an RBI.
Jackson Fliflet hit a solo homer, ending the day with two runs and two RBIs.
Wahpeton opened the tournament Friday with a 17-0 dismantling of Watford City. Caden Hockert and Skyler Bladow threw a combined no-hitter.
Fliflet took care of the offense, going 2-2 with a two-run bomb.
Post 20 followed it up with a come from behind 8-4 victory over the West Fargo Vets on Saturday. A four-run sixth inning gave Wahpeton the lead.
Jayden King tossed six innings and on average struck out a batter per inning.
