Wahpeton goes 2-0 in first day of Omaha tournament

The Wahpeton Post 20 baseball team claimed a pair of wins on Monday in the Battle of Omaha Tournament in Nebraska.
The first game was at 9 a.m. and Wahpeton was locked in, cruising to an 8-0 win over Wheaton North, Illinois, on the mercy rule in five innings.
Caden Hockert tossed his second no-hitter of the season, fanning six batters while giving up three walks.
Jackson Fliflet and Riley Thimjon each went 2-2, finishing the game with two RBIs apiece.
Tori Uhlich had an RBI and a run scored in a 2-3 showing and Caden Kappes scored twice while going 1-3.
Post 20 followed it up with a 4-3 over the Ridgeline Wolverines out of Utah.
Jayden King pitched six innings, giving up three runs while striking out eight batters.
Gavin Schroeder had a big day at the plate, ripping three base knocks to go along with a run and an RBI.
Wahpeton finishes pool play at 9 a.m. Tuesday against the North Missouri Natty’s with the tournament wrapping up on Wednesday. The remaining games can be heard on B92.7 or watched on YouTube at KBMWNews Live.
