A Tuesday morning search for the driver of a vehicle that was pulled from a slough connected to Lake Elsie has been called off.
According to Richland County Sheriff Gary Ruhl, the driver’s father reached out to inform authorities that he had spoken with his son after the car was pulled from the water.
The Richland County Sheriff’s Office and Hankinson Fire Department were on scene at 6 a.m. Tuesday with divers and K9s assisting with the search in the surrounding area.
It is unclear how the driver managed to drive into the water south of Hankinson or why he left the scene.
