A high-speed chase that began near Breckenridge ended with an arrest in Clay County on Saturday morning.

54-year-old Eric Jagers from Minneapolis cut off his ankle monitor at Blazer Express in Breckenridge, leading to police being called.

The man left in a tan pickup and officers tried to make a traffic stop when he fled north on Highway 75. The Sheriff’s Office joined the pursuit in Clay County.

Jagers turned around in a field and went southbound on Highway 75, traveling up to 90 MPH with officers pursuing. Several attempts were made to stop the vehicle with spike strips, but were unsuccessful.

The vehicle eventually came to a stop when it left the road at the intersection of Highways 75 and 210 on the north side of Breckenridge when it hit a street sign. Jagers exited the vehicle holding a bow and the officers on scene deployed less-than-lethal bean bag and pepper ball rounds to subdue him and Jagers was taken into custody.

After being evaluated at St. Francis Medical Center for minor injuries from the rounds, Jagers was booked for fleeing in a motor vehicle and obstructing the legal process at Wilkin County Jail.

No one was hurt in the incident, which remains under investigation.

Jagers was charged earlier this week with second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon after prosecutors said he fired a gun in a south Minneapolis alley and made a racial slur against former Minnesota Gopher running back Tellis Redmon

The 44-year-old was not injured even though the gun was fired next to his head as the two fought for the weapon.

Investigators also said Jagers fired a handgun outside a fire station on the city’s north side.
