The third-seeded Breckenridge Cowgirls held off a late comeback from the sixth-seeded Hillcrest Lutheran Academy Comets for a 67-62 home playoff win on Thursday.
Johnica Bernotas buried 13 of her 17 free throw attempts on her way to a game-high 25 points.
Three other Cowgirls hit double figures in the Section 6A clash. Seniors Abby Johnson and Addie Twidwell each scored a dozen while sophomore Sydni Roberts poured in 10.
Madison Ballweg led the comeback charge for the Comers with 18 of her team-high 24 points coming after halftime.
Breckenridge moves on to the Section 6A Quarterfinals where they’ll face second-seeded Henning. Tip-off is set for 2:45 p.m. from Perham High School on B92.7.
