The Wahpeton basketball teams claimed wins over West Fargo Sheyenne on Tuesday.

The Lady Huskies edged the Mustangs for a 58-55 home win. The score was tied at 27 at halftime.

Emma Bontjes was the top scorer for the victors with 14 points.

Wahpeton’s Scout Woods and Sheyenne’s Maya Metcalf had an evenly matched battle with Metcalf getting 14 points and just as many rebounds while Woods also matched her point and rebound counts with 13 each.

The Huskie boys picked up a 63-50 road victory.

The first half was a defensive battle with Wahpeton leading 21-17 at half with the offenses coming alive in the second half.

Ethan Manock followed up his best game of his Huskie basketball career with 23 points and 14 rebounds.

Caden Hockert hit from downtown five times once again on his way to 21 points.

The Wahpeton teams head to Devils Lake for a doubleheader on Friday. The Lady Huskies tip off at 5:45 p.m. with the boys following at 7:15 p.m.
