Just before the holiday season Dakota Estates Retirement Center in Lidgerwood made the devastating announcement that it would be closing its doors. Within a weeks time however, the board reversed its decision due to a huge outpouring of public support for keeping the facility open and operational. A new board has been appointed which has been meeting on weekly basis to ensure continued progress. Dakota Estates will remain a board ran, community owned non profit entity. Dakota Estates remains open and has rooms available for tenants. People are welcome to tour the facility. Volunteer help is needed with room renovations throughout the facility with painting, deep cleaning of rooms, hanging cabinets and drapes, installing new sink and toilet fixtures and more. Interested persons may volunteer their services by texting or calling (701) 640-5492 or (701) 640-6931.
