The fifth-seeded Breckenridge Cowboys got off to a strong start to the postseason with a 35-0 road victory over fourth-seeded Menahga on Tuesday.

Three of the Cowboys’ five touchdowns came on fourth down. The first was a four-yard scoring connection from Bailey Evans to Landon Blaufuss.

Gavin Pederson made it a 13-0 game at the half, plunging in from five yards out with 59 seconds remaining in the first half. Pederson found the end zone again on a five-yard catch from Evans.

Sophomore running back Paul Armitage scored the team’s last two TDs from distances of 11 and six yards, finishing the night with a team-high 127 yards.

Alex Tschackert and Alan Martinez each recovered a fumble in the shutout.

Breckenridge heads to New York Mills for a 2 p.m. Saturday rematch of last year’s section championship.
