On Friday, Wilkin County Sheriff’s Office, Breckenridge Police and Breckenridge Fire responded to a vehicle fire at the intersection of US HWY 75 and Wilkin County Rd 16. There were no injuries reported.

When law enforcement arrived, a silver Nissan Versa had smoke and flames coming from the front end of the vehicle. Wilkin County Rd 16 had to be closed for a short time while Breckenridge Fire extinguished the flames.

Mark Olson, a firefighter from Madison, MN, was driving and was able to assist the driver and first responding fire units.

The vehicle owner, Kirk Dodds, said that the Nissan Versa had been towed by an RV. When the Nissan was hooked up to the TV the vehicle was left in gear, this caused the engine and transmission to overhead causing the fire. Dodds was able to unhook the vehicle from the RV and move it a safe distance away from the car fire.
