The Wilkin County Sheriff’s Office responded to the report of a man trapped in a grain bin in Mitchell Township.
The farm owner, Tim Buth, was trapped in corn near the middle of his chest. He had been trying to unloading the bin and the auger became plugged with crusted material, forcing him to enter the bin to try and dislodge the material.
Grain bin rescue panels were used by Breckenridge and Abercrombie Fire Departments, which formed a wall around Buth. A battery-powered auger was used to remove the corn around him, allowing him to climb out of the grain bin under his own power.
Buth was checked by Ambulance Service Inc. and no injuries were reported.
