The Breckenridge Post 53 baseball team’s season came to an end in a play-in game for their substate tournament on Thursday. Post 53 had a five-run lead heading into the sixth inning of their home battle with Barnesville Post 153 when the visitors stormed back to score the game’s final six runs in a 6-5 victory.

Post 153 scored five runs in the sixth inning to tie it up and a close play at the plate in the top of the seventh gave Barnesville the game-winning run.

Dallen Ernst drove in three of the team’s five runs, booming a two-run bomb while also wearing a pitch with the bases loaded.

Cam Nieto had a no-hitter going into the sixth inning with eight strikeouts when Barnesville’s bats came alive.

Barnesville advances to play top-seeded Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton at 6:30 p.m. tonight. The substate tournament is being held in Breckenridge all weekend.
