Wahpeton has a new head volleyball coach. Dominique Richels was announced as the team’s head coach on Thursday.

Richels, whose maiden name is Schuler, is a Breckenridge native who played for the Cowgirls and for Fargo Shanley her senior season. She was a North Dakota First Team All-State selection during her time with the Deacons. She also made the North Dakota All-State Tournament Team in her final season after leading her squad in kills, blocks and aces.

I’m very thankful for this opportunity,” Richels said. “I have been privileged to be coached by some amazing individuals in my day and I’m excited to spread some of that knowledge to the next generation of student-athletes at WHS.”

Following her prep career, Richels played college basketball at North Dakota State College of Science and University of Sioux Falls.

Addie Vancura was the Huskies’ head coach the past five seasons.
