A settlement between GIANT Snacks Inc. and Lucy Spiekermeier was reached out of court, leading to the company dropping the federal case against their former treasurer and secretary who was accused of stealing or misappropriating nearly $1.7 million.

The alleged theft took place between 2010 and July 2020. The terms of the agreement, which was reached at a settlement conference held in January, will remain confidential. The conference was first reported on Monday, May 2 by Forum News Service.

After resigning from GIANT in August 2020, Spiekermeier faced a total of eight civil counts. The counts included civil theft, conversion, fraudulent nondisclosure, breach of duties of a corporation director, breach of duties of a corporation officer, two counts violation of the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act and unjust enrichment.

Along with denying stealing or misappropriating any of the company’s money, she also said she didn’t alter or destroy financial records or any other wrongdoing. Spiekermeier wasn’t charged criminally in federal court.
