On April 12, Wilkin County Deputies responded to the Clay County Wilkin County Line, near Barnesville, for a deceased horse. Upon arrival Deputies learned that the owner thought the horse was sick and it was then isolated. The horse was found deceased the following day. Upon inspection, the owner located a bullet hole in the rear hip of the horse. Deputies continued the investigation into the pasture, in the farm yard and onto the roadway.
The farm where this incident occurred is an isolated farm. The owner knows the limited number of vehicles that travel on the Clay/Wilkin County line by his house.
A vehicle that the owner did not recognized was seen driving past the farm on April 10 after dark. The vehicle was described as a black jeep with spotlights. The owner had not seen the vehicle in the area before.
The investigation is ongoing.
