The Wahpeton Lady Huskies season came to end Friday when they lost in the Class A State Consolation Bracket to the Bismarck Demons 82-47.

The Huskies had lost the day before to Bismarck Century (who would finish runner up in Class A, losing in the State Championship to Minot 75-68) 101-51, so the Huskies had a lot to revenge to play with. Scout Woods came out firing early, scoring a team high 21 points, but the same problems that plagued Wahpeton on Thursday showed up again on Friday. The Demons played a tough, physical, style of defense that forced Wahpeton into 24 turnovers. Bismarck also had the ability to go to the bench and have multiple players come in and contribute while the Huskies only had an eight player rotation.

That came into effect early, as McKenna Koolmo picked up her third foul before the halfway point of the first half. The loss of Koolmo and the physical defense led to the Huskies to trail by 26 points at half time, 46-20.

Koolmo would finish with 16 points, the only other Huskies in double digits, but it was too little too late as the Huskies finished their Cinderella run of a season 11-15 with a lot of highs to build on for next season. The Huskies finished the season as one of the best free throw shooting teams, a surprise story getting to the State tournament after entering the Eastern Dakota Conference tournament as a seven seed, and a team that is full of young players who got their first taste of state basketball against two of the best teams in the state.
