Authorities say a Richland County Sheriff’s deputy was injured when her patrol vehicle was hit on I-29 Tuesday night.

According to North Dakota Highway Patrol, it happened shortly before 10:30 PM, about 18 miles southeast of Wahpeton. The deputy was conducting a traffic stop on the median side of I-29 in the southbound lanes.

A southbound pickup failed to move over and struck the patrol vehicle. The deputy had to be extricated from the patrol car and suffered a broken arm. She was transported to a Fargo Hospital. I-29 was shut down for a short time until vehicles could be moved.
