Second half explosion leads to Cowgirl playoff win

The Breckenridge Cowgirls trailed by 10 at halftime of their playoff opener against Battle Lake and exploded for a 17-0 run to start the second half on their way to a 65-51 home win on Thursday.
Eighth grader Parker Yaggie kept the Cowgirls in the game in the opening half with 12 of her team-high 19 points. She buried 10 of her 12 free throw tries on the night.
Her fellow eighth grader, Johnica Bernotas, caught fire with a trio of triples during the second half run. She also sank a 3-pointer in the opening half for her 12 points in the win.
Seniors Camryn Kaehler and Ana Erickson each had 11 points in their final game on their home floor.
Adysen Tysdal led the Battlers with a game-high 25 points. She knocked down six 3-pointers in the loss.
Next up for the 12-12 Cowgirls is a 1 p.m. Saturday battle against top-seeded Underwood in Perham.
