Fire at the Richland County Law Enforcement Center

On Tuesday night at approximately 9:30 PM an individual entered a lobby area of the Richland County Law Enforcement Center. A short time later a fire occurred in that same lobby area. The incident caused moderate damage to that area and smoke throughout the building. Richland County Sheriff’s Office, Wahpeton Police Department, NDSCS Police, Bureau of Criminal Investigation and Wahpeton Fire Department responded to the scene.
Corrections officers removed all inmates from the corrections facility to a secured area. All inmates were moved to other corrections facilities in Cass and Barnes Counties as a precautionary measure.
