For the second time this season, the Breckenridge Cowgirls were bested by the Hawley Nuggets. The most recent battle between the Heart O’ Lakes schools saw Hawley build a big lead at halftime and cruise to a 61-45 victory on Tuesday in Hawley.

Kaylie Crabtree scored her 1,000th point in the opening half on her way to 15 points. Anna Steer was the leading scorer with 16 and Kylie Crabtree came through with 14.

Carcie Materi scored 10 of her team’s 19 points in the opening half as they trailed by 14 heading into the locker room. She ended the night with a dozen.

Camryn Kaehler found her groove in the second half, pouring in 11 of her 14 points. She was also a rebound shy of a double-double.

Next up for the 5-10 Cowgirls is a 7:30 p.m. Friday home game against Barnesville. The Trojans took down the Cowgirls 69-40 in their first meeting this year.
