Both basketball squads lost to the West Fargo Sheyenne Mustangs on Thursday night. The Boys, who traveled to West Fargo, fell short 96-62 while the Girls couldn’t protect home court lost 95-76.

The Girls weren’t able to defend homecourt, having to battle back from a 20 point deficit in the second half. The Huskies were able to cut the lead to single digit trailing 69-60 mid way through the second half, but West Fargo Sheyenne proved to be too much going on a 23-14 run to end the game. Emma Bontjes led the Huskies with 20 points off the bench, with McKena Koolmo (19) and Lidia Motl (13) also scoring in double figures. Scout Woods, coming off a big game last Saturday, struggled only scoring six points. The Mustangs were led by sophomore Brenna Dick, who scored a game and career high 31 points off the bench for West Fargo Sheyenne. The Huskie Girls will be back in action on Saturday against the Cowgirls at 3pm on KBMW and on YouTube at KBMW NewsLive.

The Huskie Boys, who now sit at 2-8 in the Eastern Dakota Conference standings, were lead by Caden Hockert’s 21 points. The Huskies as a team did a poor job scoring, shooting 38% from the floor. Ethan Manock was the only other Huskie to score double figures with 13 points and pulling down a team high five rebounds. The next game for the Huskie boys will be at 5pm on KBMW 1450 as they take on the Breckenridge Cowboys
