
The Wahpeton Lady Huskies basketball team went down to the wire in their first game of the season on Tuesday, but fell short of a road win against West Fargo Sheyenne, 80-78.
The Huskies went into halftime down seven, but outscored the Mustangs 45-40 in the second half of the tight loss.
Aiyana Allard caught fire in the first game of her senior season with five triples on her way to a team-high 23 points.
Allard was joined in double figures by three of her teammates. Scout Woods had 16, McKena Koolmo followed with 13 and Emma Bontjes chipped in 10.
Next up for Wahpeton is their home opener at 7:15 p.m. against Fargo Davies.
