The Breckenridge Cowgirls fell in their season opener on the road with a 50-43 loss to Morris Area-Chokio-Alberta on Tuesday.
Breckenridge trailed by two at halftime and after a nice run to take the lead to open the second half, Morris was in control the rest of the way.
Meredith Carrington was unstoppable for the Tigers, pouring in 24 points with 14 of them coming in the second half.
Leading the way for the Cowgirls was eighth grader Parker Yaggie with 11. Yaggie was also a constant presence in the passing lanes, forcing turnovers and swiping steals at will.
Abby Johnson was the go-to offensive threat for BHS in the opening half as she was battling with Carrington. Johnson had eight of her 10 points on the night before halftime.
Next up for the Cowgirls is their home opener at 7:30 p.m. Friday against the Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton Rebels.
