The Wahpeton Huskies Girls Basketball team was picked to finish eighth according to The Miss Hoopster North Dakota Girls Basketball Preview. The Huskies finished 3-19 last year, but with a good crop of young talent the team looks to turn a corner this season.

The Huskies are returning five players who started at some point last year, but will still be one of the youngest teams in the state. Seniors Aiyana Allard, McKenna Breuer, Sidnie Pulskamp and Kilee Bladow will be important leaders on the team. Freshmen Scout Woods and Lataya Lunnerborg both have the benefit of getting varsity experience last season while still in Eighth grade. Woods averaged 10 points and 5.3 rebounds last season and is looking to add to those numbers this season.  The Huskies’ junior class of Lidia Motl, McKena Koolmo and Emma Bontjes will also be important pieces going forward.

Miss Hoopsters Eastern Conference prediction, taking from the coaches polled looked like:

  1. West Fargo
  2. Fargo Davies
  3. Devils Lake
  4. West Fargo Sheyenne
  5. Fargo Shanley
  6. Grand Forks Red River
  7. Fargo South
