The Breckenridge Cowboys and Underwood Rockets slugged it out in the opening round of the Section 6A Playoffs with the fourth-seeded Cowboys hanging on for a 7-0 victory over the Rockets on Tuesday in Breckenridge.

The Cowboys scored the lone points of the game in the first quarter off a six-yard pass from Bailey Evans to Alex Sanchez. Evans booted the PAT and it was a scoreless game the rest of the way.

The Rockets, who were shut out against the Cowboys for the second time this year, had a 70-yard touchdown run by Tristan Evavold waved off due to a holding penalty. They also were held scoreless in three trips to the red zone, either turning it over or getting stopped on fourth down.

Landon Blaufuss sealed the game with a fourth down sack, allowing BHS to kneel on it and run the clock out.

The Cowboys play Saturday in the Section 6A Semifinals. They will either travel to Battle Lake to take on top-seeded Otter Tail Central or host Walker-Hackensack-Akeley.
