The Breckenridge Cowgirls finished second at their tournament in Fergus Falls on Thursday, going 3-1 on the day.

Each of the matches were two sets with Breckenridge besting Detroit Lakes and Minnewaska in sweeps to advance to the Gold Pool. The scores were 25-17 and 25-18 against DL and 25-19 and 25-8 against Minnewaska.

In their first match in the Gold Pool, the Cowgirls fell to Pequot Lakes. The eventual tournament champs won by set scores of 25-20 and 25-8.

Breckenridge ended the day on a high note with a 2-0 win over tournament host, Fergus Falls. The Cowgirls took the sets by scores of 25-15 and 25-21.

Abby Johnson, who already had 11 aces in the tournament entering the final match, added seven more in the victory over the Otters. She also had 28 kills in the four matches, second on the team to Camryn Kaehler’s 33.
