Finkral reaches 1,000 career digs in Cowgirl win

10-6-21-riley

The Breckenridge Cowgirls tacked on another win to their streak to make it 19 consecutive victories with a road sweep over Wadena-Deer Creek on Tuesday. Breckenridge took the sets by scores of 25-19, 25-23, and 25-16.

Breckenridge’s libero, Riley Finkral, hit another milestone with her 1,000th career dig. The career digs leader entered the match 24 away from the achievement and that’s how many she ended the night with.

Finkral is the third Cowgirl to reach the 1,000 mark for any stat, joining her coach Margaret Wilson and Brooke Busse who both had over 1,000 assists in their careers.

While Finkral took care of the defense, Camryn Kaehler turned in another solid offensive outing with a dozen kills and three aces. Both were team highs for the Cowgirls.

Sophie Larson led the squad in assists with 20 and Carcie Materi followed with 17.

Next up for BHS is a 7:30 p.m. Thursday home match against Perham.
