The Breckenridge Cowgirls volleyball team finished first at a tournament in Barnesville on Saturday, topping the host team in the championship match 25-16 and 25-17.

The Cowgirls dominated the tournament from start to finish, winning all eight of their sets. Breckenridge got to the championship match with victories over Win-E-Mac (25-5, 25-7), Fertile Beltrami (25-18, 25-20) and New York Mills (25-18, 25-18).

The highlight of the weekend was another school record being set by this year’s Cowgirl squad. Riley Finkral, who already broke her own digs in a match record earlier this season, claimed the career digs record at the tournament.

The original record of 950 was held by Sophie Aigner. Finkral, who had 55 total digs in the tournament, broke the record against New York Mills.

Camryn Kaehler was the kill leader in three of the four matches with 34 total kills on the day. She also had five aces in the opening match.

Breckenridge is 18-0 on the season and hits the road to play Wadena-Deer Creek at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
