On September 3, a Conservation Officer came upon a vehicle that had rolled over in the ditch near County Highway 37 and Bankers Drive. While attempting to assist the lone occupant of the vehicle, he was found to be armed and fired in the direction of the Conservation Officer. The scene was held and negotiators worked to resolve the situation. The suspect, Derrick Sundeen fired several more indiscriminate rounds over an hour and fifteen minute stand off. The suspect was ultimately apprehended after the use of less lethal ammunition and the situation was resolved with minimal injury to the suspect. The Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office is continuing an investigation into the events. Sundeen is being held on charges of attempted murder, 1st and 2nd Degree Assault, and DWI.
