The Wahpeton Huskies volleyball team opened their season at the annual Bismarck Crossover this weekend and went 2-5.

On Friday, Wahpeton was swept by Bismarck St. Mary’s (25-15, 25-18, 16-14), but bounced back with their lone two wins of the weekend later in the day. The Huskies took both of the matches by 2-1 scores against Watford City (25-15, 25-21, 7-15) and Minot (25-11, 26-24, 15-17).

The Huskies suffered four defeats on Saturday. They lost 2-1 to Dickinson (25-15, 25-18, 7-15), were swept by Mandan in the following match (25-21, 25-16, 16-14) and their final two outings were also 2-1 losses to Williston (25-20, 25-17, 11-15) and Bismarck Legacy (25-20, 25-15, 11-15).

Next up for Wahpeton is their conference opener against West Fargo. The game is at Wahpeton High School at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
