
Wahpeton native Louise Erdrich won a 2021 Pulitzer Prize for fiction according to the Dartmouth News.
Erdrich won the Pulitzer for the novel The Night Watchmen. The award was named on June 11.
Erdrich, age 67, is a member of the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa, and the novel was about the halt of displacement and elimination of several Native American tribes in the 1950s.
Erdrich has written 17 novels from poetry to children’s books.
